Spencer Anthony-Cahill

Spencer is a Pacific Northwest native and recently retired from teaching biochemistry at Western Washington University in Bellingham, where he was department chair and held various leadership positions among the faculty, as well as running a small research group focused on developing modified human hemoglobin as a blood replacement. He first became aware of World Ride during a virtual movie night in 2020, and then connected with Julie Cornelius during a biking vacation in Moab in 2024. He is committed to supporting the mission of World Ride to empower women worldwide through mountain biking. He recently returned from a fantastic World Ride trip to Guatemala and is looking forward to many more such excursions!

Closer to home, Spencer enjoys taking every opportunity to introduce visitors to the local trail systems- whether hiking or mountain biking. Spencer is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition and is active in trail building/maintenance and leading rides for after-school bike programs.
